#WeekendDAOCshowcase Blorbo of the Year Double Feature: Mato Lavellan & Yama Mercar
I played DAI for the first time from Dec 2024-Jan 2025. It was the first thing I played after leaving a bad living situation and finally having the freedom to do whatever the hell I wanted in over 10 years.
Mato is based off a non-DA OC of mine and @lynsneakers.bsky.social was kind enough to do the CC for me (along with almost all of my other DA OCs 😭 thank you 💚). I fell in love with him (and the game) immediately.
I went straight from DAI to DAV, with Mato as my Inquisitor, and another non-DA OC as the Rook.
But I was so enamored with Mato that I couldn’t get into my Rook.
@lynsneakers.bsky.social was watching along through all of DAI and then DAV, and she wanted to make sure I had a good time.
So what did we do?
Made Mato a twin 😏
My first Rook was deleted only 12 hours into the game and I started over with Yama Mercar, Mato’s long-lost twin brother.
I was immediately into the game this time, and Mato and Yama became my dual blorbos. I’ve created more Rooks and Inquisitors since then (and most of them are all part of one big extended family), but Mato and Yama will always mean the most to me 💚
But most important of all, thank you to @lynsneakers.bsky.social for helping craft them. Your CC skills are astounding. I wouldn’t have put 300+ hours in DAI and 570+ hours in DAV without you, and I’m glad you’ve been there to watch most of it too.
(Fun fact: Tomorrow, 12/15/2025, is the 1-year anniversary of Mato’s creation 💚💚💚)
